ah yes...MUSIC!

I woke up this morning with Algebra Blesset's song, "U Do It For Me" stuck in my head AND on the tip of my tongue.

It's no strange phenomenon to wake up singing - for me it's quite a regular thing. Most times I have to actually quiet my active mind (some call it "restless"), put the rotating song on MUTE and give God my first song of the day. A song of thanksgiving for allowing me another...

But such is the morning routine of a music addict.

"Hello, my name is Nola Divine and I'm an addict."

(group applause)

"I have a problem with infectious beats, beautiful melodies, contagious hooks, lyrics that tell stories, and I can't help but snap my fingers and bob my head to every single song I listen to. I do it in the car, in my house, and even at work..."

I'm so addicted to music that if I go more than a few weeks without listening to something new I truly feel like I'm going to go crazy. I get cranky, irritable and quite annoyed with my entire music collection until I get something new to add to it.

When this happens, I always end up doing one of two things:

(a)Tearing through the Sunday print ads for Circuit City, Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Target; then waiting impatiently for Tuesday when I hop in my car and drive at a high speed to the nearest aforementioned location to purchase somebody's New Release for $9.99.

OR

(b)Fighting sleep no matter how tired I am - to stay up late in the wee hours of the morning (on a "school night"), scouring the Internet for underground artists I've never heard of, free downloads, Myspace Music Pages, and exploring new genres of music.

But fortunately...I know I'm not alone. My not-so-little-sister, Gizzy, and my best friend, Fab Fe, also share the same insanely strong affection for this sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions through melody, harmony and color....ah yes....MUSIC.

For all my fellow music lovers...I feel compelled to share with you the song that moved me to write this post. The song that was stuck in my head AND on the tip of my tongue this morning....

Enjoy:
