I've Moved >> MakingaComeUP.com

My Dear Readers,

I'm sorry that I haven't written in a while forever. Need I even explain that I've been in transition: changing, loving, growing, learning, traveling, kicking things to the next level with no shoes on? Lol

I've been working on my comeUP story. And I'm now sharing pieces of this journey at makingacomeUP.com.  It's nothing fancy. No frills. No cutesy logo or flickering widgets that play music and count your clicks. It's just me, Danielle. In the most pure I-can't-put-all-my-business-on-the-internet-but-here's-what-i'm-experiencing-as-a-twenty-something-in-transition-and-the-stuff-that-inspires-me-along-the-way kind of blog. (you follow?)

Nola Divine is (or as my friends say "Nola Nola D!") still very much a part of me. But fortunately, God has blessed me with a co-creative element...thus the birth of New Element, a jazz and poetry duo. So if you're still interested in following me creatively, link with Nola Divine or New Element on Facebook.

So the rebirth of this blog, Nola Divine Writes, is momentarily on pause...when I'll pick it back up is TBD. But my dear friends, it's been quite a pleasure! I have appreciated your comments and loyalty to this blog spot. All archives, photos and videos will remain; and who knows, I may still post things periodically. But Click the link below to skip on over to makingacomeUP.com or you are invited to search for my personal page on Facebook. Whichever you decide, let's do stay connected.

With all the love, peace and FeelGood I can muster,
Nola

NEW RELEASE - 4.6.10 AND Listening Party!!!

I am arguably PJ Morton's biggest fan!  I was introduced to PJ Morton's music through my big brother Ed Clark, who happens to be the amazing drummer in PJ's band (Watch Ed do his thing HERE). Their music is truly classic GOOD music. And if you're on this blog, I know you can appreciate that.

I was hooked with the first CD that Ed sold me! I'll never forget, I was a freshman at Xavier University, Ed had just brought me back from another trip to Wal-Mart to restock on Ramen Noodles and cereal and he was telling me about his CD. "CD? You have a CD?" "Yeah!" he replied. He parked, hopped out and from the trunk of his car - YES! From the trunk of his car, he whipped out the Freestyle Nation album.....and I haven't been able to stop listening since. Yeah that goes back. Lol! Who remembers Freestyle Nation? I'm talkin bout back in New Orleans playing shows in his daddy's church hall! Flying to New York just to see PJ and Ed at Joe's Pub. I just can't get enough!

So as SOON as I heard, I pre-ordered his album, Walk Alone that was released TODAY and it is a 'must have' for your music collection.

Even the kids love him, now how many other artists can you really let the kids sing to??

Okay, enough of my yapping.

BUY THE ALBUM! Amazon or iTunes
and GO TO THE LISTENING PARTY TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!

By the way, What is your PJ Morton story?? Share it in comments!!

and now i leave you with one of my favorite songs from the album:

*Y'all know how I get about music*
No more downloading leaks and playing her videos over and over again (okay you may still do that, because Window Seat is the BIZNESS) because the one, the only, Queen of Neo Soul, Erykah Badu has dropped the MUCH anticipated New Amerykah Part 2: Return Of the Ankh!!!!
IN STORES RIGHT NOW! GO GET ITTTT!!!

Okay now that I'm done screaming at you, let me give you everything Badu for this new album:

1. Let's start by watching the commercial;
It's only a minute long:

2. Now that commercial opened with a clip from her Window Seat video that everybody is talking about...for allllll the right reasons! This creative soultress really exposes her soul with this one! Watch:

Erykah spoke to Dallas News about the video, saying:
I was petrified, period. The whole thing was frightening. The whole idea was frightening. Not being in love with my body, not being secure about being vulnerable, the police coming to take me to jail. I’m breastfeeding right now. Anything I could think of, I did. But those little things diminished as I thought about the big picture. And, as I started to walk, I confronted a lot of fears, and I hoped that it would encourage others to do the same thing in their own way...
